An instrument for showing the direction of the wind, or foretelling a change of weather.
1706Phillips, Anemoscope, a Device invented to foreshew the Change of the Air, or the Shifting of the Wind.1727–51Chambers Cycl. s.v., Hygroscopes made of cat's gut, etc., proved very good anemoscopes.1744Pickering in Phil. Trans.
