Designating a type of sensory nerve ending that winds spirally around muscle fibres in a muscle spindle.
1898Jrnl. Physiol. XXIII. 199 The difference between these two modes of ending..consists in the former presenting a perfect spiral... In the latter mode of ending there are a succession of rings... But there exist forms intermediate between these two endings... I judged it well therefore to speak of the two together under the single term—annulo-spiral ending. 1948Q. Jrnl. Microsc. Sci.
