apioid Geom.|ˈeɪpɪɔɪd, ˈæp-| [f. Gr. ἄπιον pear: see -oid.] a. A species of plane curve, being that one of a pair of Cartesian ovals which is within the other. b. A species of solid of revolution, being the form assumed by a rotating liquid when the velocity of rotation exceeds a certain amount. Hence apiˈoidal a., pertaining to or having the form of an apioid.
