[OE. astandan, f. a- prefix 1 + standan to stand; cf. OHG. arstantan, MHG. erstân, mod.G. erstehen. But in some of the senses a- appears to represent on- (incl. ond-), at-. Cf. an-, at-, onstand.]
1. To stand up.
