biogenetic, a.|ˌbaɪəʊdʒɪˈnɛtɪk| [f. as prec. + Gr. *γενετικός, f. γένεσις: see prec.] Of or pertaining to biogeny or biogenesis; biogenetic law (G. biogenetisches grundgesetz): the theory, formulated by Haeckel, that evolutionary stages are repeated in the growth of a young animal; also called recapitulation theory (see recapitulation1 1 b).
