chuckwalla, n.|ˈtʃʌkwɒlə| Also chuckawalla, etc. [ad. Mexican Sp. chacahuala, f. Amer. Indian (Catuilla) name.] A large rock-dwelling iguanid lizard, Sauromalus obesus, common in the deserts of the south-western United States. Also chuckwalla lizard.
