1542Boorde Dyetary xxix. (1870) 292 Necessary it is to be laxatyue and not in no wyse to be constupat. 1697R. Pierce Bath Mem. ii. i. 255 By..much Sweating, the Bowels were heated, and dry'd, and rendred Constipate. 1733Cheyne Eng. Malady ii. xi. §2 (1734) 229 The Belly..becomes now quite constipate and tumefied.
