The amide of cyanogen CN2H2, a white crystalline body; also, a salt of this compound, in which one or both of the hydrogen atoms are replaced by another element or radical; spec. = calcium cyanamide (CaCn2), used as a fertilizer and as a source of other nitrogen compounds.
