= Devon; used attrib. to designate various articles produced or animals reared in Devonshire, or characteristic of Devonshire, as Devonshire cake, Devonshire cider, Devonshire pie, Devonshire pottery, Devonshire sheep, Devonshire tea; Devonshire cream (see cream n.2 1); Devonshire slipper (see quot. 1921); Devonshire wainscot, a species of moth, Leucania putrescens (see wainscot n. 4).
