† diˈstractile, a. Obs. [f. L. distract-, ppl. stem of distrahĕre to pull asunder + -ile; cf. mod.F. distractile in Bot. (Littré).] Capable of being drawn asunder or stretched, extensible; of or relating to stretching. (Cf. contractile.) In Bot. applied by Richard to anthers in which the cells are separated by a very long and narrow connective.
