a. A process for producing a design in relief for surface-printing; also, the block or plate so produced.

1866Chamb. Jrnl. xxviii. 271 Mr. Hitchcock, an American, has invented a process for preparing wood-blocks for the printing of pictures, diagrams, and so forth, to which he gives the name of graphotype. 1866Brande's Dict.
