hygeist|ˈhaɪdʒiːɪst| Also (in mod. Dicts.) hygieist. [f. Gr. ὑγεία, ὑγίεια (see Hygeia) + -ist.] One versed in hygiene; a sanitarian. Assumed as a title by James Morison, the maker of certain ‘vegetable medicines’ formerly in vogue.
