macrochoanite Palæont.|ˌmækrəʊˈkəʊənaɪt| [f. macro- + Gr. χοάν-η funnel + -ite1 2 a.] A nautiloid cephalopod once included in a suborder Macrochoanites, in which each septal neck reaches back into the preceding one. Hence ˌmacrochoaˈnitic a., (having septal necks) characteristic of a macrochoanite.
