A process similar to martempering but with the constant-temperature stage kept too short to allow isothermal transformation; also = martempering vbl. n. s.v. martemper v. So ˈmarquench v. trans.
1947Iron Age 3 July 52/1 Martempering consists of quenching from the austenitizing temperature to the Ms temperature..and holding this temperature until transformation from the austenite is complete... Marquenching is the term which is usually applied to interrupted quench only, without involving isothermal transformation.
