2) 与“国际性”相对而言的“本国性”或“国内性”的。

• Special stamps were issued to mark national and international events.遇有本国与国际的大事，就发行邮票纪念。

3) 具有本国或本民族特色的。

• They were wearing their national costume.他们穿着民族服装。

4) 国际政治意义上的“本国的”或“国家的”。

• national anthem国歌
• national debt国债
• national holiday国家节日。

5) “民族的”。

• national liberation movement民族解放运动
• national independence民族独立
• national bourgeoisie民族资产阶级。

但是中文的“民族”往往专指“少数民族”，例如“民族政策”，英文就不能译成 *national policy 而要译成 policy toward nationalities 或 policy toward ethnic groups; “民族歧视”不能译成 *national discrimination 而要译成 ethnic discrimination。
