[The name of Louis Albert Necker (1786–1861), Swiss naturalist and mineralogist, who described the phenomenon in 1832 (Phil. Mag. I. 329).]
Necker('s) cube: a line drawing of a transparent cube in which parallel sides are drawn with the same length, so that one seems to look successively down at the top and up at the bottom as the perspective reverses.
