1. A useless or valueless person or thing. Also attrib. Hence no-ˈgooder, (U.S. slang) no-goodnik [-nik], a no-good person.

The origin is more likely to be found..in the old U.S. phrase, according to Gunter. Gunter was a noted mathematician who gave his name to works of precision and accuracy. 1966G. W. Turner Eng. Lang. Austral. & N.Z. vi. 118 The unexplained phrase no good to Gundy, meaning simply ‘no good’ perhaps appeals because of its alliteration. |
