[a. F. obtempér-er (14th c. in Hatz.-Darm.) ad. L. obtemperāre to obey, f. ob- (ob- 1 a) + temperāre to qualify, temper, to restrain oneself.]
1. To comply with, yield to, submit to, obey; now only in Sc. Law, to obey (a judgement or order of a court).
