[a. OF. offension (13th c., offencioun in Gower Mirour), ad. L. offensiōn-em injury, offence, stumbling-block, etc., n. of action from offendĕre to offend.]
1. Hurt, injury, damage; displeasure, annoyance; what is offensive or causes disgust; wrong-doing, misdeed, fault: = offence n. 4–7.
