ostracite|ˈɒstrəsaɪt| (Formerly in L. form.) [ad. L. ostracītēs, a stone mentioned by Pliny, a. Gr. ὀστρακίτης earthen, testaceous, f. ὄστρακον shell: see ostracean.] A fossil shell of a species or genus allied to the oyster.
