physoclist, a. and n. Ichthyol.|ˈfaɪsəʊklɪst| [f. mod.L. Phȳsoclīstī (pl.), f. Gr. ϕῦσα bladder + -κλειστ-ος shut, closed.] a. adj. Belonging to the Physoclisti, a group of teleost fishes having the duct between the air-bladder and the intestine closed: cf. physostome. b. n. A member of this group. So physoˈclistic, physoˈclistous adjs., having the air-bladder so closed or cut off.
