[f. Gr. πλῆξις stroke, percussion (f. πλήσσειν to strike) + -meter (the suffix being loosely used, and with the sense of ‘estimating’ rather than ‘measuring’).]
A small thin plate of ivory or other substance, which is placed firmly upon some part of the body and struck with a plexor in medical percussion. Also applied to anything used for the same purpose.
