‖ Plumeria Bot.|pluːˈmɪərɪə| Also Plumieria. [mod.L.; named by Tournefort, 1700, after the botanist C. Plumier (Plumerius).] A tropical genus of trees (family Apocynaceæ), having large fragrant salver-shaped flowers, white, yellow, or purplish, in terminal cymes. There are about forty species, among them the red jasmine tree, nosegay-tree, and pagoda-tree of the West Indies.
