Any of a large class of synthetic resins and plastics consisting of or made from polymers with the units linked by the group {b1}NH·CO·O{b1}, which are made esp. by the reaction of polyisocyanates with polyhydroxy compounds and are important commercially as plastic foams, as fibres, and in paints, adhesives, synthetic rubbers, films, etc. Also attrib. and Comb., esp. polyurethane foam.
