[mod.L., f. Gr. πρός toward (but here used as if = πρό, pro-2 2) + ἐγκέϕαλον, -ος brain, encephalon.]
The anterior part of the brain, consisting of the cerebral hemispheres and other structures; sometimes including the olfactory lobes (rhinencephalon) and the optic thalami and adjacent parts (thalamencephalon); the fore-brain.
