a. (Also Madame Récamier and with small initial.) Used attrib. and absol. to designate a chaise-longue of the type on which Madame Récamier is portrayed reclining in a painting by David.
b. Used attrib. and Comb. to designate a reclining position similar to that in which Madame Récamier is portrayed.
