‖ ˈscordium Bot. Obs. Also 6 scordion. [mod.L. (cf. L. scordion, Pliny), a. Gr. σκόρδιον a plant that smells like garlic. Cf. G. skordien, MDu. scordioen.] A name for the Water-Germander, Teucrium Scordium, a plant formerly in use in medicine as a sudorific, an antidote for poisons, etc.
