a. A colourless, crystalline amino-acid, CH2OH·CHNH2·COOH, which is widely distributed in animal proteins.
1880Jrnl. Chem. Soc. XXXVIII. 713 Cramer's..serine is isomeric with amidohydroxypropionic acid. 1882Ibid.
