Smith Square, n. U.K. Pol.|ˈsmɪθ ˈskwɛə(r)|
[The name of a square in Westminster, the location since 1958 of the headquarters of the British Conservative Party. The square also contained the headquarters of the Labour Party (Transport House, q.v.) between 1928 and 1980.]
By metonymy, the leadership of the Conservative Party; occas. the leadership of both the Conservative and Labour parties.
