a. A Hamitic people, adherents of Islam, living in the Horn of Africa, esp. in the Somali Democratic Republic (Somalia); a member of this people.
b. The language of this people which belongs to the Cushitic sub-family and existed until recently in spoken form only.
B. adj. Of or pertaining to the Somalis or their country.
