Stableford, n. Golf.|ˈsteɪb(ə)lfəd| Also stableford. [The name of Dr. Frank B. G. Stableford (c 1870–1959), medical practitioner, who devised this method of scoring.] Used attrib. and absol. with reference to a kind of stroke-play competition in which points are awarded according to the number of strokes taken to complete each hole.
