1. Biochem. A phosphoprotein which is present in the nuclei of non-replicating or senescent cells, but not in cells that are undergoing replication.

2. Pharmacol. Any of a class of cyclic organic compounds, chiefly lactones or pyrroles, that inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver, and are used in the treatment and management of high blood cholesterol levels.
