不一定是“学生”，如果后面是 of + 某学科领域，可以是“研究某领域的学者”。

• student of international terrorism研究国际恐怖主义问题的学者
• student of Egyptian archaeology古埃及考古学者
• students of Sartre可以是萨特的学生，也可以是研究萨特的学者

student of China 则更多是研究中国的学者，Chinese student 可以是“中国学生”，也可以是“学中文的学生”。

• ... he was... a strong-enough German student that he regularly traveled to Hunter College in New York City to take a high-level class. (The New York Times, Sept. 30, 2007)…他是个出色的德语学生，甚至经常前往纽约市的亨特学院去听高级班的课。

history student 则是“攻读历史的学生”。
