Tristanesque, a.|trɪstəˈnɛsk| [f. the name Tristan, the hero of Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde (1865), + -esque.] Resembling the music of Tristan und Isolde; spec. characterized by tonal ambiguity and chromaticism.
