The name of Miyazaki Yūzen-sai (fl. mid-18th cent.), Japanese inventor of a technique of dyeing silk fabric in which rice-paste is applied to areas which are not to be dyed, used attrib. and absol. with reference to this process and the designs produced. Also yūzen-zome (see quot. 1983).
