When one is modest, he tends to be aware of his shortcomings and then he would like to learn more so as to become more capable and competent. And a modest man can get along well with others while others would like to respect him and help him when he has some difficuhies in his work or study. On the contrary,a conceited person tends to swell with pride and think of himself as a great genius, and consequently he would stop where he is and make no more progress. Meanwhile his conceit will bring him dislike from others and people would stay at a disdainful distance from him, and consequently he will be a loner in the world.
Anyone who wants to achieve success in life should be modest and keep forging ahead.
